Tide Looking for Repeat

I'm going to start this article with a simple question: Can Alabama repeat in 2010? If you think you have the answer, then consider reading the rest of this article. I am going to defend both sides of the case, or try to at least.

How many times will that one question come up in everyday sports news and college football fanatic's conversations? If you're like me and have many friends who are college football fans, then a lot. The real question is, WHAT IS THE ANSWER? Well, no one person can truthfully answer that question at this point in the year, mostly because the season has not even begun yet.

Many or all of us are struggling at this point in the year, because now that the spring games are behind us, we know there is absolutely no football until the first kickoff of the season. I always dread this part of the year when it is football season, and I don't truly remember how horrible it really is until its back again.

Back to our topic though. Will the Crimson Tide be able to win consecutive national championships? I honestly believe that the Tide can, and will. Here is why:

Alabama has a TON of young talent, starting with sophomore Trent Richardson. He rushed for a little over 700 yards in 2009, including a huge run in the national championship which ended oh so well, adding six points to the scoreboard. Another great young player is Dont'a Hightower. Hightower was injured early in the season last year, with barely any playing time or stats to add to his resume. But he will be back and one hundred percent in 2010, and will be a great replacement for Rolando McClain.

Another reason that I believe Alabama will repeat is there spectacular offense. Led by Heisman Memorial Trophy winner Mark Ingram, and SEC Championship MVP Greg McElroy, this offense will be explosive. Though those two star athletes will no doubt lead the team to many wins in 2010, the guy I think will step up big is junior receiver Julio Jones. He didn't have a standout season last year, but this coming up season he will most likely play two very important roles; Receiver and Punt/Kick returner. I don't one hundred percent know what coach Saban's decision about punt/kick returner will be, but I know Julio is definitely a candidate.

The final reason I believe the Crimson and White can win it all is because of their schedule. Coach Saban created the perfect schedule for his Tide. The first game will be an easy game to warm up his team, but the very next week is when the schedule strength kicks in. A home game against the Penn State Nittany Lions will of course be a challenge for the defending champs. Alabama also plays Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi, LSU, and Auburn. These will all be exceptionally tough games, but I believe Alabama will survive. Roll Tide!
