Who does Santa Root for this Bowl Season?

So, I will start this article with a quick question: If Santa had to pick a team to root for this year, which one is more worthy?

Well, There are three nominees in my mind, and those are Texas, TCU, and Alabama. Notice I didn't list Boise State, Cincinnati, or Florida.

I'll take it step by step, and literally spell out for you why these teams are not worthy of Santa's fan-hood, starting with Boise State.

Boise is VERY overrated. They are a great team that is lead by an astounding quarterback, but their schedule is weak. If you haven't realized it yet, they played only one team ranked in the top 40. That was the season opener against Oregon who was, at the time, ranked 16th in the country.

This TCU squad that they will be facing in their bowl will give Boise State what has been coming to them.

Now, I'm not hating on Boise, but they just need to realize that you don't get to call yourself an "elite" team until you prove yourself against other "elite" teams, like TCU.

Cincinnati is another of my unworthy teams, and this is because of their very late coaching change. Throughout the season Cincy has been dominating, but is the change of coach going to affect the players in the game as much as it has in the locker room? After Brian Kelley announced his new coaching job at Notre Dame nationally, the Bearcats locker room was shaken crazy.

I believe this will be the distraction that Florida needs to take care of business against the Bearcats. I will go ahead and predict that if Florida wins, Cincy will have a sub-par season next year, but if Cincy wins, then they will have an 11-1 or 12-0 season. My prediction is that Florida will win in a 10-point game.

Now for Florida, my final unworthy team. Florida was considered the best team in the country for all but one week this season, but after the performance that they showed against Alabama in the SEC championship they are definitely not the best team in the nation. Florida dominated through the whole season, but when it came down to the big game, they couldn't get it done.

Florida will win their bowl game because Tebow has something to prove, and Cincy is disappointed. Florida will have a par season next year, and will make a BCS bowl again.

Now let's switch over to the worthy teams. I will start with the third most worthy team, and that is Texas.

Texas has gotten their fair share of breaks this year, with their biggest one coming in the game that decided their fate: the Big 12 championship against Nebraska. McCoy threw the ball out of bounds as time expired, but the officials said there was a second left on the clock, and Texas was able to get the field goal, and get out with a close win.

Imagine if Texas would have lost. Who would be playing Alabama in the national title?  Florida? TCU? Cincy? Boise?

Now let's go to TCU.

TCU has been by far the most dominant team all year, but are they maybe overrated? No, they aren't. I think that the Big 12 should make room for them in their conference.

Imagine seeing TCU play Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech every year. Now imagine TCU going undefeated in that conference. They would no doubt be worthy to be in the national title game then.

But enough about the "second best" teams. Let's talk about the most worthy and the best, and that is Alabama.

Just to get one thing straight, I didn't pick them because I am a fan. I picked them because they are the favorites in the national championship game, they won the SEC championship, they have the Heisman winner, they are undefeated, and they are No. 1.

I mean, why wouldn't Santa want to be a Tide fan? The Crimson Tide is the No. 1 team in the nation because they have been consistent all season long.

So don't be surprised if a UFO is flying above Pasadena. It will probably be Santa's sleigh looking over the Rose Bowl.

The national title game will be one for the ages, and will come down to who wants it more. I hope Alabama wins. It would be a great holiday gift to all fans of the Crimson Tide.
